Behold New Viking Ocean Cruises

Since 1997, Viking River Cruises have proven immensely popular with passengers and, as of 2015, operate 52 river cruise ships in locations throughout Europe, Russia, Far-East Asia and along the River Nile. Each cruise ship has been specifically designed to each river, ensuring you have a seamless and peaceful journey. This combined with exciting itineraries and an all-inclusiveness that covers flights, deluxe ensuite accommodation, meals, tea and coffee, wine, beer and soft drinks with meals and excursions has seen Viking River Cruises rise in popularity.

In 2013, Viking Cruises took a leap of faith and announced the launch of Viking Ocean Cruises – with their first ship, Viking Star, set to sail on April 11th, 2015. The maiden voyage will take passengers from Istanbul, through the Mediterranean and into the Atlantic before arriving in Norway where she will be officially christened. What can passengers expect from Viking Ocean Cruises? GoCruise Franchise takes a closer look at the all-new ocean ventures.

Viking Star

The all-new Viking Ocean Cruises ship will have the capacity for 930 passengers, supported by a crew of 465. With a gross tonnage of 47,800 and a length of 227 metres; Viking Star will provide a small ship experience with a ratio of one crew member to every two passengers.

In terms of amenities, Viking Star will boast two pools: the main pool and a stunning glass-backed infinity pool towards the back of the ship, complete with retractable roof. The spa, otherwise known as a Nordic Wellness Sanctuary, will feature familiar features such as a sauna and treatment room. It will also feature a Snow Grotto, where snowflakes stimulate your circulation.

In the evenings, guests will be able to enjoy outdoor movies at night and dining on the Aquavit Terrace. The theatre will boast live entertainment, as well as old and new release films and port lectures. All of this is bound together with Scandinavian décor which becomes apparent as you wander around the ship and relax in your luxurious stateroom.

Viking Star will spend the best part of this year sailing between the Baltic nations, Norwegian Fjords and the Mediterranean.

Viking Ocean Cruises

The same modern Scandinavian décor that has become synonymous with the Viking River Cruise firm will be apparent on Viking Star. The experienced nautical architects and engineers consist of the same interior design team responsible for the award-winning fleet of Viking Longships.

Viking Ocean Cruises are set to offer free excursions, free WiFi and complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks with all meals on board Viking Star. This is great news for fans of Viking River Cruises, who will know that their itineraries base a heavy focus on destination-based experiences.

Additionally, features that you may find on other ocean cruise ships, such as casinos and kids clubs, are nowhere in sight on board Viking Star. This sends out a strong message from the new ocean cruise firm and gives favour to those looking for a truly enriching experience. Instead, you may find comfort via the fire pit or enrich your experience further by participating in a class in the on board cooking school. Here, you can learn to cook local delicacies based on the location visited and passengers will be able to travel the world through a series of food-related experiences.

And if all that wasn’t enough, Viking Ocean Cruises have confirmed that two more ocean cruise ships are currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard near Venice. To supply an already overwhelming demand, Viking Sea and Viking Sky will provide many more exciting experiences.
