The recently unveiled concept for Celebrity Edge is nothing short of exciting and offers a clear indication of the direction Celebrity Cruises is looking to go over the next five years. Set to launch in 2018, Celebrity Edge will mark the beginning of the brand new Edge class of ship and offer a range of amenities and interior design that has never been achieved before.
Celebrity Cruises has teamed up with some of the world’s most renowned interior designers including, star of BBC’s Dragon’s Den, Kelly Hoppen. It is also worth noting that, for the first time, virtual reality has been used in the design process of a cruise ship – ensuring every tiny detail is taken into account. The line wants to ensure their first new build in six years is an absolute triumph.
While many exciting new ships have been built in the last couple of years, only a handful of these have operated out of Europe on a long-term basis. Cruisers will, therefore, be delighted to know that Celebrity Edge will operate out of Europe in 2019, commencing with a two-night inaugural sailing out of Southampton. This will be Celebrity Cruises’ first inaugural sailing out Southampton since the launch of Celebrity Eclipse in 2010.
After launching towards the end of 2018, the ship will operate a series of winter itineraries in the Caribbean before heading to the UK in May 2019. In Southampton, she will be showcased to the UK travel trade from the 13-15th May before embarking on a 10-night sailing to the Iberian Peninsula, calling in a number of ports throughout Spain, Portugal and Italy before arriving in Rome. From here, she will operate 10 or 11-night sailings between Rome and Barcelona.
Jo Rzymowska, who is UK & Ireland and Asia’s vice-president and managing director for Celebrity Cruises, said “The fact that our president and chief executive is coming to London to make the announcement about Edge’s European deployment speaks volumes for how she views the UK cruise market. It’s hugely important to Celebrity Cruises.”
“Seeing truly is believing so this will give us the chance to show agent partners exactly why Celebrity Edge is so revolutionary and so unique. Edge is such an outward-facing ship, connecting guests to the sea wherever possible, so we wanted to showcase her in Southampton in the spring rather than in the depths of winter.”
Each stateroom onboard Celebrity Edge will offer a luxurious experience. Features will include an infinite balcony where, at the touch of a button, your living space will open and enable you to walk to the water’s edge. There will also be six two-storey suites complete with a private balcony and living area - offering an experience similar to a luxury villa.
Outside of the staterooms, some of the features guests will be able to enjoy are nothing short of extraordinary. A rooftop garden, a new sensory experienced-themed restaurant and lounge and the intimate ‘Magic Carpet’, which floats up and down the exterior side of the ship and offers unparalleled views out to sea.
The past few years have seen an era of immense transformation within the cruise industry, with many lines opting to offer a range of new and exciting possibilities that were simply unachievable in the past. With this in mind, there really is no better time to be a part of it all. GoCruise offers an opportunity to build your very own franchise, offering support and assistance around the clock while ensuring you earn competitive rates of commission on every booking you secure.
