Cunard and P&O Cruises launch 2019 summer programmes

It’s a well-known fact that, once you find something you like, you tend to stick with it time and time again. This is no different in the cruise industry, with many passengers opting to book a second cruise the moment they step off the ship. Some super keen passengers even opt to book their next sailing while still on board the ship. Whichever way you look at it, there is a constant demand for the cruise product and many holiday-makers will look to book well in advance.

With this in mind, it should come as no surprise that both Cunard and P&O Cruises – which are both owned by Carnival Corporation – have opted to launch their respective summer 2019 programmes. Over the next week, 180 brand new itineraries will be opened up to the public, with Cunard offering new itineraries on general sale from 15th September 2017 and P&O Cruises from September 12th, 2017.

Cunard will be offering an increased range of overnight stays and visits to UNESCO World Heritage sites around the world. The line will make maiden calls into ten new cities, with visits to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Klaipeda (Lithuania), Oban (Scotland), Hvar (Croatia) and many more. The line will also operate its first northern lights itinerary, with an opportunity to experience the majestic natural beauty of Iceland.

Example itineraries for P&O Cruises will include journeys to the Norwegian fjords, 14-night Mediterranean sailings and discovery-led, scenery-based itineraries on board Oriana. There will also be a number of themed sailings including a Strictly Come Dancing cruise, a cruise to the Monaco Grand Prix, and a series of Food Heroes cruises – which present the opportunity to meet culinary geniuses such as James Martin, Marco Pierre White, Olly Smith, Atul Kochhar and Eric Lanlard.

Senior Vice President for P&O Cruises, Paul Ludlow, said: “I don't believe there is another cruise line or indeed travel company which offers this breadth of holiday choice with exhilarating, memorable celebrity trips. From the great sights across the globe to intimate one-off dining experiences, the world's best sporting events or simply a hidden cove in the sun, it is an unparalleled choice.”

The fact that these sailings are going on sale two years in advance goes to show just how popular the cruise product is. Many lines offer itineraries due to a huge demand and, with more people opting to embark on a cruise holiday for the first time, there really has never been a better time to become a part of this exciting industry.
