GoCruise Conference – January 2017

The turn of 2017 marks not only the beginning of another new and exciting year for the cruising industry, but also for the annual January GoCruise conference. Following the success of the 2016 conference, it was once again held within the historic setting of Coombe Abbey, in Coventry.

Franchisees from around the UK joined together with leading figures from GoCruise to provide a review of 2016 and discuss the year ahead for the cruise industry. Head of Cruise, Geoff Ridgeon, made the announcement that GoCruise had enjoyed yet another year of growth in 2016 – despite numerous challenges and world events which could have potentially hampered the industry.

Reviewing the year of sales and the difference offered by GoCruise, he went on to discuss the year ahead for the cruising industry and how franchisees have the advantage over other independent agencies. Consumers are continuing to book holidays with a firm that they can trust despite political and economic turbulence.

Franchise Manager, Bridget Coe, also stepped onto the stage to deliver a talk on motivation through these difficult times. Bridget also emphasised the expansive support network available at head office in Ipswich, which can offer support with regards to sales, marketing, e-commerce, cruise line knowledge, system training, and administration.

As well as reviewing the past year of cruising, franchisees were also invited to a networking lunch event, attended by staff members from a plethora of cruise lines. This offered a great opportunity to find out about the latest promotions and pick up copies of new brochures. Cruise lines present at the event included: Royal Caribbean, MSC Cruises, Cruise and Maritime Voyages, Holland America Line, P&O Cruises and Cunard.

In addition to this event, leading figures from Celebrity Cruises, MSC Cruises, Oceania Cruises and Azamara Cruises each offered their product knowledge and gave advice on how to sell the cruise product going into 2017.

After a full day of absorbing business information and networking, the evening presented an opportunity to relax and unwind in a friendly and quirky atmosphere. Franchisees were invited to partake in a Great Gatsby-themed event, which proved to be an entertaining evening of music, fine dining and entertainment.

Year-on-year, GoCruise’s network of more than 60 franchisees situated around the country continues to grow, as does the continued rate of success. Each conference provides an opportunity to network with staff members from our head office in Ipswich, as well as many different cruise lines.
