Last month saw franchisees from across the UK gather for the Annual Summer GoCruise Conference. This provided a chance to discuss the past year of trading and within the cruise industry in general, as well as a chance to network with cruise partners. Representatives from lines including Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, MSC Cruises, P&O Cruises, Pullmantur Cruises, Royal Caribbean and local tourism boards were all present at the networking event and ready to converse with franchisees.
Unlike previous conferences in recent years, the 2017 summer conference offered a change of scenery. Franchisees gathered in the charming and, perhaps, slightly unknown Belgian city of Mechelen for the two-day event. Located just 30 minutes outside of Brussels, Mechelen is home to many interesting and colourful buildings – each of which has its own story to tell. It certainly left an impression on all those who were lucky to attend and key figures from both 'Visit Flanders' and 'Visit Mechelen' were on hand to provide plenty of reasons to encourage people to visit Belgium.
GoCruise's Head of Cruise, Geoff Ridgeon, took to the stage to address the challenges the past 12 months has brought to the industry but reassured franchisees that GoCruise continues to enjoy successful trading. Franchise Manager, Bridget Coe, also took to the stage and offered friendly advice on how to ensure customers return to you time and time again.
Of course, being in Belgium, it would be rude not to try and experience the local culture. An evening of beer tasting and a visit to a local brewery ensured franchisees were also able to let their hair down and relax after a busy day of discussion and networking.
